The Duchesne River is one of the community’s defining natural features. Residents and visitors can enjoy the peaceful river setting, take a walk, watch birds and wildlife, photograph the surrounding landscape, or spend time fishing along accessible portions of the river.

The Riverwalk provides a relaxing way to enjoy the outdoors close to town. Whether you are beginning the morning with a walk, taking the family outside, or unwinding at the end of the day, the river corridor offers a quieter view of Duchesne and the natural beauty of the Uinta Basin.

Walk, Relax and Enjoy the River

Visitors are encouraged to keep the Riverwalk clean and enjoyable for everyone. Please stay on established paths, supervise children near the water, keep pets under control, avoid disturbing wildlife, and carry out all trash.

River conditions may change because of runoff, storms, releases, and seasonal weather. Use caution near steep, muddy, icy, or fast-moving sections of the river.

Fishing the Duchesne River

The Duchesne River flows from the southern slopes of the Uinta Mountains and eventually joins the Green River. Its waters and tributaries have become popular with local anglers, including those interested in trout and fly fishing.

Anyone fishing must have the appropriate Utah fishing license and follow all current state regulations. Access should be limited to public areas or locations where the landowner has granted permission. Anglers should respect posted boundaries, avoid damaging vegetation, and leave the river cleaner than they found it.
